E. Ray Moore, Jr., CH (Lt.Col.) USAR ret, announced that the 10
Commandments would be on tour in SC from March 21-27. This is the
same monument that was removed from the Alabama Judicial Center
and belongs to former Chief Justice, Roy Moore. It has been on tour
in USA for one year. By the time of arrival in SC it will have visited
approximately 20 states and 150 locations. This monument has been
a news item on CBN, CBS , ABC news and was topic of a special Nightline
program on ABC with Ted Koppel several months back.
Dr. Henry Jordan, Co-chairman of the SC tour said, "It's more
important for the law of God to be written on the hearts and minds
of people, but the display of the 10 Commandments and our historic
Judeo-Christian symbols in the public square and the acknowledgement
of God that these represent are a necessary part of maintaining
our religious and political liberties." Jordan, who served
on the SC State Board of Education in the mid-1990's, received the
support of a SC House of Representatives resolution and a favorable
legal opinion from Attorney General, Charlie Condon, to post the
10 Commandments in SC public schools under limited rules, but he
could not get the SC State Board of Education to support his resolution
and the issue died.
Chaplain Moore said, "The SC 10 Commandments tour is a great
opportunity for our SC citizens to visit this historic symbol of
our religious liberty. While it has been removed from the ALA Judicial
Center in a apparent legal set back, it has now been made available
to encourage Americans in many states and communities." The
10 Commandments monument tour in SC during Holy Week will be concluded
in Beaufort, SC on March 27, Easter Sunday, with a celebration not
only of the freedom it represents, but also services at Community
Bible Church celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
